Francophone Immigration Express Entry

Updated: Nov 12, 2020

Francophone Immigration Canada

Canada aimed to increase French-speaking immigration by 4.4% outside of Quebec by 2023. This new policy will incentivize francophone Immigration to Canada through the Federal Express Entry program.

The province of Quebec manages its own immigration levels and Quebec immigration requirements. Francophones wishing to immigrate to Canada who were not eligible for Quebec’s programs may now qualify through Express Entry.

The previous number of points awarded to francophone candidates in the Express Entry system was 15; bilingual candidates were issued 30 points. The change announced this week will increase the points awarded for French-speaking candidates to 25 CRS points; bilingual candidates will receive 50 points.

This increase may dramatically improve a French-speaking candidate’s Express Entry score, allowing them to immigrate to Canada outside of Quebec.

Both the Federal Express Entry program and the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program are suitable options for francophones immigrating to Canada.

The Federal Express Entry System manages three programs, including the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class, and the Federal Skilled Worker Program. Each program has different eligibility requirements.

If you are eligible for one of the programs listed, you can create a profile in IRCC’s Express Entry System. If your score is competitive, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the upcoming Express Entry draw, held two to three times per month.

Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream is an immigration stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

It gives French-speaking skilled workers with strong English language abilities the opportunity to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario. To apply, you must create a profile in IRCC’s Express Entry system. If you receive a Notification of Interest from the province, you can submit your application to apply for Permanent Residency.
