Our Advice To Canadian Employers Looking To Hire International Talent.
The entrepreneurial ecosystem in major Canadian cities is rivalling that of Silicon Valley’s, thanks to the rapidly expanding digital skill pool, access to venture capital, and government incentives.
This blog will discuss how employers may hire foreign tech workers in the most efficient and effective way possible.
The Global Talent Stream
The Global Talent Stream (GTS) was developed in 2017 to provide businesses with prompt, responsive, and reliable client-focused service that grants them access to the highly-skilled global talent they need to expand their workforce in Canada and compete globally.
This Stream is for innovative Canadian businesses that have been referred to Employment and Social Development Canada by a designated referral partner and require unique and specialized foreign nationals to expand and grow. It's also for Canadian businesses looking to fill a highly-skilled position on the Global Talent Occupations List.

Benefits of applying via the GTS
Employers who apply to the Global Talent Stream can expect faster processing of their LMIA applications, with a service standard of 10-business days beginning the day after the application is received by Employment and Social Development Canada. In addition, employers can look forward to personalized and increased support throughout the evaluation process and eligibility for their highly-skilled global talent workers to have their work permits processed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada in two weeks.
In a nutshell, the GTS is for Canadian employers looking to fill highly skilled positions in their companies very quickly. These are specialized positions that may not be readily available in Canada and are essential to the company’s growth and expansion.
Requirements of applying to the GTS
The GTS program is divided into two categories. The first allows innovation-focused employers to hire people who have advanced industrial and/or educational expertise to work in highly specialized skilled areas.
The second category is limited to 12 technology occupations, including web designers and developers, software engineers, computer and information system managers, digital media designers, and other technical roles.
Each GTS program category has specific requirements to meet in terms of salary compensation and completion of a Labour Market benefits plan. Working with an experienced immigration consultant with industry knowledge is critical to making the process go as smoothly as possible for you.
Canada is quickly becoming a top destination for people seeking the opportunity to be creative in the tech industry. Employers can broaden their search and tap into international talent pools to supplement their workforce with people who have international market experience and bring them to Canada quickly with the help of the GTS program.
