What Today's Draw Means and How To Get Ready for an Application
IRCC has been focussing on the backlog of Express Entry applications which was impacted by the global pandemic. FSWP candidates have not been invited since December 2020, while CEC candidates have not been invited since September 2021.
All-program draws for Express Entry recommenced July 6, 2022!
Even though the unemployment rate in Canada is low, there is a very high demand for skilled workers. The recommencing of draws is supported by a job vacancy rate standing at 912,580 for Q3.

Important points discussed in the latest express entry update:
During Minister Sean Fraser's announcement on the 22nd of April, 2022 about the reopening of Express Entry and how the IRCC plans to combat the labour shortage in Canada, he addressed the following:
Invitations to FSW, CEC, and FST candidates all will resume in July
Most new Express Entry applications are to be processed within six months.
Starting this summer, international graduates with post-graduate work permits expiring between January and December 2022 will be eligible to renew their permits for up to an additional 18 months.
let's talk about today's draw: July 6, 2022
IRCC has issued its first draw of 2022, with 1500 invitations being sent out, which saw candidates with 557 points or higher invited to apply. We see this is a "tester run" for IRCC, which will allow them to ensure that their systems are working properly, and to see what kind of application rates they can expect to see from candidates. We expect the rounds to increase in size as the summer progresses.
